Audience Incentives

Why does your audience want to download your app?

The convenience of information and content in an easy to use mobile format might not be enough for some people. They may be content to use your website or call the box office.

For some people, it is the savings from discounts, special access to exclusive content, or feeling of a special connection to your organization that will entice them the most.

Below, we’ve outlined three different general types of incentives for your audience members with a few examples of each.


Financial Incentives

  • Offer ticket discounts by showing the app at the box office.
  • Add a Birth Month category to Push Notes and send out a Happy Birthday discount code at the beginning of each month.
  • Free concession stand item from a code sent via Push Notes.
  • Restaurant partnership that offers discount to app users.

Note: Stagger these incentives out so that your audience has a reason to keep the app around long-term, and not reap all of these discounts over a short amount of time.


Exclusive Content Incentives

  • Manually add unlisted YouTube videos as in-app exclusives. These could be made public on YouTube later, after a period of exclusivity.
  • Record audio interviews with Artists, Directors, Staff and host them via the Music tab.
  • Include behind-the-scenes trivia about the performances via ATV that is not included in the regular program notes.

  • Communication Incentives

  • Send Push Notes about special receptions or after-parties.
  • Make the app the primary source for updates about event cancellations, delays, or weather issues.
  • Use ATV Social feed for Q&A, behind the scenes photos, trivia.

  • Audience Incentive Plan

    The examples above are great suggestions, but be creative! Create unique incentives that work best for your organization.
