Chapter 3: Internal Awareness


Mobile Mission Statement

One of the most important steps to making your app a success is to have everyone in your organization aware of it, know what it can do, and ready to contribute to it in their own way.

Action Item: Create a Mobile Mission Statement to help guide your team.

Write a one to two paragraph mobile mission statement that you can share with everyone in your organization. Answer the following questions so that they will not only know about the app, but understand WHY you have a mobile app.

  • Why is mobile important to your organization?
  • What benefits will it provide to the patron? (Recap your Audience Incentive Plan)


Internal Communications

As we mentioned, to be successful, everyone in your organization must know about and be on board with the app.

  • Marketing: Maintain app content and promotion via website, email, social, on-site.
  • Development: Approach business and individual donors about becoming an ‘App Sponsor’.
  • Education: Provide interesting information about performances to include as exclusive digital content.
  • Box Office / Ticketing: Be aware of any special promotions via the app for ticket discounts.
  • Volunteers: Know how to find the app in iTunes and Google Play to assist patrons in downloading it.
  • Executive Team / Board Members: Make sure all other departments and individuals are contributing in their capacity.

Note: These duties will vary based on the size of your organization.
